Leningrad region (The North-West Federal District)

Leningrad region - the subject of the Russian Federation, located in the northwest of the European part of the country. Part of the North-West Federal District and Northwestern economic region. Area - 83,900 square kilometers, accounting for 0.5% of the area of Russia. According to this indicator region occupies 39th place in the country. From west to east region stretches for 500 km, and the greatest length from north to south is 320 km. Population — 1 714 403 people (2011).
