The Federation Council is to prepare proposals for stimulating domestic IT companies

A working group to prepare proposals to stimulate activity of domestic IT companies will be established in the Federation Council. This proposal was discussed at a meeting of the Temporary Commission of the Federation Council on the Development of the Information Society.

The meeting chaired by the head of the Commission, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Construction Lyudmila BOKOVA was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade, experts in the fields of development and technology.

The participants discussed issues of promoting import substitution in the IT sector. Lyudmila BOKOVA stressed that for the development of domestic IT companies it is necessary to define the criteria of “domestic software” concept. Another important proposal is to be discussed is the creation of a registry of domestic software, said the senator. Making corresponding amendments to federal laws is also necessary.

Proposals for measures to support the developers of Russian software, electronic component base and radioelectronics were also discussed at the meeting.

“We need to reach a consolidated position in order to submit a proposal on a legislative basis”, - she said.
