29th October 2015

Agreement on the establishment of Russian-Argentine Business Dialogue was signed on 22 October 2015 in Buenos Aires by representatives of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) and the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA).

This document was signed by the member of the RUIE Board, General Director of “FosAgro” Andrey Guriev and the UIA President Adrian Kaufmann. The solemn signing ceremony was attended by the Executive Vice President of RUIE Victor Cherepov and Deputy General Director of “FosAgro” Valery Fedorov. According to Victor Cherepov, “the agreement was signed in furtherance of the Memorandum of Understanding between the RUIE and the UIA adopted in December 2012”.

The main objective of the Business Dialogue is to promote the increase of trade turnover between Russia and Argentina through the development of economic relations and improving direct contacts between industry associations of the two countries, and support private and entrepreneurial initiatives necessary for strengthening Russian-Argentine business relations.

The first meeting of the Russian-Argentine Business Dialogue is planned for the spring of 2016 in Moscow.

The Argentine side supported the RUIE proposal on expansion of cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and MERCOSUR. According to Adrian Kaufmann, “the creation of the business dialogue will allow building more effective strategic partnership between Argentina and Russia”.

Andrey Guriev noted the symbolism of the signing of the Agreement on the establishment of Russian-Argentine business dialogue on the day of the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Argentina, noting that “our countries have much in common, and they have a huge potential, both as industrial and agricultural nations”.

“Business Dialogue’s goal is not only help to increase trade between our countries, but also improve the process of technology transfer in the field of conventional and nuclear power, oil and gas, and chemical industry”, – said Andrey Guriev.

He also expressed hope that the Business Dialogue will focus on the effective implementation of bilateral cooperation in priority areas, which were discussed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and the President of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner the day before during teleconference.
