Agency for Technological Development to be established in Russia

4th December 2015

Yesterday on 3 December 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin during his annual address to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation said that the Agency for Technological Development will be established in Russia. The Agency will provide assistance to enterprises in the domestic acquisition of patents and licenses.

“Access to foreign markets, expansion of Russian production should be a natural strategy for national business development and the whole Russian economy. And of course, it is necessary to break stereotypes and believe in our own capabilities”, said the President.

“If you go forward, there will definitely be the result”, - Vladimir Putin said.

Vladimir Putin gave example of agriculture: 10 years ago half of the food products were imported from abroad and thus we depended on imports. Now Russia is one of the exporters.

“Last year export of agricultural products amounted to almost 20 billion rubles, a quarter more than the revenue from the sale of arms or about a third of revenues from the export of gas”, - said Vladimir Putin.

“Such a leap was made by our agriculture a short but fruitful period of time”, - he added.

Apart from that, the President is confident that by 2020 Russia could fully supply the domestic market with domestic food products.

“This task should be set as soon as possible”, - he said.

“Not only are we able to feed ourselves with the help of their land and water resources, but Russia could become the world's largest supplier of healthy, environmentally friendly, high-quality food. It has been a long time they are missing from some Western manufacturers. Moreover, demand in the global market for such products is growing steadily”, - said the Head of State.

In order to solve these major problems, according to the President, it is necessary to focus resources on supporting farms that demonstrate high efficiency.
